A Day in the Life of Me

7:20 - Woke up in the guest bedroom because I "slept" in there last night. Kyle and I had gotten in an argument about me needing some attention and not feeling very loved (can you say pregnant?). Anyway, once I started crying it was like the flood gates opened up and I just couldn't stop (once again, pregnant). I didn't go to the guest bedroom because we were in a fight, I went in there to give Kyle a little peace and quiet, so he could actually sleep. As for me sleeping, I don't do that anymore anyway, so no biggie.

7:30 - Watched a little Mickey Mouse Club with Hill until Kyle decided to bring her milk in the wrong cup (according to her) and she had a nuclear meltdown on the bedroom floor.

7:45 - Fixed Hill a well rounded breakfast of blueberries and an ego waffle

8:00 - Cleaned up smashed blueberries and spilled milk off the floor. Why, you may ask, is there spilled milk? That would be because Hill has chewed a hole in the rubber mouth pieces of all her sippy cups and they leak everywhere.

8:15 - Brushed my teeth and threw on a hat and flip flops to go with my pj's while Hill pulled the Kleenex out of the box one by one and threw them in the toilet along with a pair of Kyle's boxers from the dirty clothes.

8:30 - Chased Hill around the house with her clothes and finally got her pinned down long enough to dress her and buckle her shoes on the wrong feet.

8:40 - Watched Hill assume the poo poo position then run and hide behind a chair.

8:42 - Laid on top of Hill to keep her from jumping off the changing table while I changed her diaper, then attempted to brush her hair and put a bow in while she found the lotion bottle and squirted a handful down her arms and legs. I just rubbed it in, she was feeling a little dry anyway, and I wiped the excess on my shirt. I slept in it last night, so it's not like it was super clean anyway.

8:45 - Carried all 25 pounds you know who to the car. Not on my hip like you would think though, since she was completely resistant, in both arms, across my chest, sideways.

8:50 - Went through the drive through for some well deserved coffee

8:57 - Pulled in the parking lot at Mother's Day Out and seriously had the thought, "man, I'm a couple of minutes early, so I'll just sit here for a second and enjoy my coffee"

8:58 - Thought interrupted by Hill throwing up every ounce of blueberries, egos and milk that made it into her stomach. I jumped out of the car, ran around to the backseat and held her hand while she finished her business. Then she looked at me and said "I sorry". Hard to be mad at that. Now, don't think I am completely unsympathetic to her throwing up, but she has a pretty good track record of throwing up in the parking lot at school, and while I hate it for her that she throws up, I still know that she is not sick.

9:05 - A pack of baby wipes later, I took her into her class soaking wet and smelling of soured throw up.

9:06- Explained to her teachers and the other mothers in the class what happened, promised she was not sick and begged them not to think bad of me for not taking her back home with me.

9:10 - Drove back home in my throw up infested car to get Hill a change of clothes.

9:20 - Headed back into Hill's classroom to witness her bouncing off the walls and eating cheese puffs handed out by her teacher. I told you she wasn't sick.

9:30 - Unloaded and disassembled the car seat, hosed it off in the front yard, left the base out to dry and stuck the cloth part in the washing machine.

10:00 - 12:45 - Washed three loads of clothes, cleaned dishes out of the sink and attempted to pack for the beach this weekend. Oh, I tried to eat lunch too, but it seems that Kyle ate the last of the peanut butter yesterday and forgot to mention that, so some toast and jelly with a side of week old tostidos had to do.

12:45 - Put the car seat back together and loaded it back into the car, that for some reason still smelled like throw up

12:55 - Rushed to pick up Hill from MDO by 1:00

1:00 - Greeted at the door by her teacher who shook her head at me and said, "I need to go home and take a nap after playing with Hill all day, she is all over the place! By the way, she was hugging on one of the little boys and when she walked off, we noticed some teeth marks on his cheek. We sent a note home in your bag, but we have a strict no biting policy and if she does it again, the director will want to speak with you. We know she wasn't doing it to be mean, but those are the rules."

1:05 - Hill passed out in the car on the way home, while all I could think about was the fact that I am going to have a new baby in October and Hill isn't going to be allowed back to Mother's Day Out. Plus, I was holding by breath that she could make the 5 minute ride home without throwing up again.

1:10 - Put her straight down for her nap then opened her school bag to find in addition to the biting notice, a sheet explaining that she may have been exposed to shingles which is the same virus that causes chicken pox. Awesome!

1:20 - Prayed that she would stay asleep 'til 3:00 and I don't have to walk in her room and see this.

Some days are just better than others, but I love her anyway ;-) And yes, I still have on my PJ's

Dress Up

I've been trying to take a lot of pictures of Hill to make up for the ones we lost with the "great computer crash of 2009". I wanted to share some, and realized there was a reoccurring theme throughout. The girl loves to play dress up. Just this morning, she dug through my basket of clean laundry and pulled out Kyle's mesh workout shorts, put her head through one leg hole and her arm through the other, pranced her way into my view and said "I'm cute". I'm pretty sure I can trace the "I'm cute" comment back to the day I bought her first sandals several months ago. I wanted her to be interested in wearing them, so I made a big deal about them and told her every time she wore them, that she was "so cute". She then became aware of the fact that she could put something new on like the plastic bracelets I gave her in her Easter Basket, and I would tell her that she looked cute. Now, we don't even have to tell her, she tells us, all the time. I realize that this could become a problem if she is still telling people "I'm cute" a few years from now, but coming out of a 19 month old's mouth, it is "cute", especially since she looks ridiculous half the time. Oh, she isn't completely vain, she pays it forward, telling me and Kyle that we look cute too. Kyle's ties seem to be very high on Hill's cute scale.

First Haircut

Hill's first haircut was pretty uneventful, but she does look much better. We went to a cute little place called sweet and sassy specifically for children, where they give you a lock of their hair and a certificate with a picture to commemorate the day. Kyle was such a good dad and came for support. Hill had no clue what was going on and just squirmed to get out of the chair because there were much more exciting things to see and do, but no dramatic meltdown. The lady only cut a little off the back just to even things out, so there are definitely still some curls intact, and that makes me very happy. While she was getting her hair cut, Kyle and I noticed what looked like a little mosquito bite on her left knee. This would be no big deal for most people, but Hill had a mosquito bite a couple of months ago that turned into staff infection that had to be surgically removed at Children's Hospital (I know I've told some of y'all that story, but I don't think I ever got around to blogging about it, don't hold your breath, it was traumatic, and I don't really want to relive it). Anyway, I called from the hair place to make a Dr.'s appt. where we paid $30, sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes, then in the consult room for another hour (insert dramatic meltdown) all for Dr. Peters to tell me that it is probably just a mosquito bite. I did manage to get a few pictures of our "fun" morning. And just a little video of our time at the Dr.'s office.

The Time Has Come

We're headed out to get Hill's first haircut! I'll let you know how it goes.

Pow Pow

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend visiting Kyle's family. There was lots of family, food and fireworks. I have never seen Hill eat so much, including a bar-b-q rib that she grabbed right off the platter and started gnawing on. I guess all of the food made her sleepy too, because she requested several times not during her nap time to go "night night", so we happily obliged. The time change worked to our advantage in keeping Hill awake long enough to watch the fireworks display over Chateau Elan. Of course my camera battery died before we got to our final viewing spot for the evening, but she ran around on the golf course like only a delirious 1 1/2 year old can do, yelling "pow pow". Thank you Nonna, Bee Bop, Aunts, Uncle, and cousins for making our time there so much fun!

my one try at a picture with Hill...typical!

P.S. In my attempt to be domestic/good mom, I made cupcakes for Hill's class at school. Fresh blueberries and fruit by the foot made a delicious American Flag on top. I could do a whole post about me trying to make these things (baking just isn't my thing). All I have to say is, thank you Kyle for telling me that it would be easier to cut the fruit by the foot with scissors instead of a dull knife, duh.
